Stéphane Dufoix is Professor of Sociology at the Paris-Nanterre University (Sophiapol laboratory) and a Professor at Sciences-Po Paris.
Research Project
He works on the history of concepts and the historical sociology of the social sciences. He is responsible at the Collège d'études mondiales of the Global Sociology Seminar.
The activities of the “Mondes caraïbes et transatlantiques en mouvement” (MCTM) programme take a general approach in which the Caribbean is regarded as a paradigm that lends itself to comparison with a set of situations that Western modernity has helped to modify.
Having majored in economics and sociology at Beijing University in the mid-1980s in China, Lun Zhang became lecturer at a university in Beijing. At that time, he was amongst the first to accomplish some research in the field of economy and sociology in the context of post Cultural Revolution, using modern social science approach, while actively taking part in the intellectual debates and activities in favor of the economic and political reform in China. During the 1990s, he prepared his PH.D in sociology about the Chinese intellectuals in the Reform era, at EHESS.
« The Fragility of Democracy: Rescuing Dialogue and Deliberation » conference, organised on Tuesday 17th of March 2022, in collaboration with Reset Dialogues on Civilizations and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation’s Delegation in France, brought together international specialists from the scientific world, personalities from the political world, journalism and civil society around the “fragility of democracy”.
