Le GRETS (Groupe de Recherche Energie Technologie et Société) est une équipe de recherche en sciences sociales (sociologie, science politique, sémiologie, anthropologie, linguistique) appartenant à la Direction de la Recherche & du Développement d’EDF. Il mène des études et recherches pour le compte d’EDF, sur des sujets intéressant le Groupe EDF : clients, marchés, environnement, développement durable, consommation, opinion publique, concertation, évolutions sociétales, usages et modes de vie, interactions société-entreprise.

Cosmopolitanism and solidarity

Confronting upheavals in the global economy, the prominence of global political conflicts, the global risks created by environmental damage, and the new connections forged through global media and migrations, many recognize the need for renewal of social solidarity. How do we imagine cohabitation and ideally cooperation on large-scales, at long distances, and with deep differences?

Networked societies

The development of new information technologies and new forms of mass media are profoundly altering social relations. The research chair studies the interaction between information and communication technologies and social processes, focusing on the networks created from a multicultural and multi-local perspective. Two projects were carried out on the crises in Europe and on alternative economies within dominant systems.

Chaire UNESCO ITEN

The ITEN UNESCO Chair is based on interdisciplinary research, training and experimentation around new digital forms of mediation, transmission and publishing. It specialises in the field of new media and digital humanities.

 

These activities are structured around several objectives:

• To devise an interdisciplinary theoretical framework for describing contemporary transmission processes;

• To design, create and evaluate new cross-media systems for transmitting and publishing information;
