Postdoctoral Fellowships for Young German Researchers
Created by the FMSH and the Volkswagen Volkswagen Foundation in 1983-1984, this fellowship program for young German researchers was taken up in 1990 by the DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst - German Academic Exchange Service) which manages the program together with the FMSH.
Financing is provided by the DAAD while the FMSH provides hosting and scientific support. Fellows are interviewed and selected by a bilateral commission which meets once a year in Bonn at the DAAD.
Fellowships range from 6 to 10 months and fellows are affiliated with a host laboratory in France.
The objective is to give highly qualified young researchers the chance to pursue a research project of their choice in a French institution.
The call for applications is published by the DAAD at the beginning of each academic year.
