Bolstering “North-South" Relations

The Fondation’s policy vis-à-vis Sub-Saharan Africa falls under the prolongation of the programs that were implemented in the framework of the Réseau des Maisons des Sciences de l’Homme in collaboration with the Maison Ange Guépin in Nantes.

The main objective is to continue these initiatives and to bolster “North-South” relations, which is intended to help increase this region’s researchers’ presence in scientific activities that have an international dimension.

In this respect, alongside the periodic support initiatives, the tool that has been given priority consists of invitations from Directors of studies that allow researchers to spend time in laboratories, to access documentary collections, and to participate in seminars, workshops, or symposiums that are disciplinary or thematic.  This is a way of formally structuring exchanges and of getting help for individual initiatives from more collective initiatives within the networks.

Visible Presence in the "Emerging Actors" Network

This presence allows researchers from Sub-Saharan Africa to be increasingly present in the “Emerging Actors” Network designed as a forum for bringing thinkers together and for scientific and cultural exchanges in the various disciplines of the human and social sciences in the Francophone, Anglophone, and Portuguese speaking worlds.  It is intended for both Africanists and non-Africanists.

In addition, in order to support the poorest universities, the Foundation offers aid in the framework of its library support program.
