40 Years of Interdisciplinary and International Networking

Founded in 1963 upon the conviction that interdisciplinarity is essential for understanding the complex questions facing society and for moving beyond Eurocentrism in order to make sense of diverse cultures, the Fondation MSH’s mission is to act as “a facilitating, interdisciplinary, and international incubator.”

Thanks to its infrastructure, technical capabilities, and diverse scientific programs, the FMSH is able to act as an international platform for cooperation aimed at French and foreign researchers and academics.

Any French university or research institution is eligible to participate in its scientific programs, or to use the FMSH as a way to host foreign researchers.

In this context, it has developed its programs in three directions, which have been consolidated by the creation of the Institute of Advanced Studies.
