Louis Dumont Fund for Supporting Research in Social Anthropology
The Louis Dumont Fund was created in 1988 at the MSH Foundation, which manages the fund. It offers yearly grants to a novice researcher in social anthropology. The funds are intended for researchers based in France, but they can be either French or foreign.
Two important points:
- Only social anthropology is eligible, which imposes a monographic perspective.
- Researchers start by studying. Training in anthropology is necessary, even though it is not widespread in France.
The Fund offers financial support to a researcher to do field work or to expound upon material already collected.
Applications are reviewed yearly between December 1 and January 31.
