Thematic Programs
The work generated by exchanges and cooperation between researchers from all countries has helped to delineate research themes that very often touch upon the major questions facing contemporary societies. In fact, programs may even be proposed to address specific questions.
Criteria used for determining which programs are accepted to receive financing from the FMSH include the caliber of the project leader from both a scientific and managerial point of view, as well as that of the individuals that he/she plans on mobilizing. For the Foundation, this means taking a voluntary risk on “unconventional” projects that correspond to its mission of “incubator.”
Through its programs on cultural areas, mobility, and broad-reaching thematics which address all continents and a wide array of cultures and civilizations while maintaining a clear focus on historical depth, international comparisons, and interdisciplinarity, the FMSH is helping knowledge production initiatives in the social and human sciences that seek to better our understanding of the key problems linked to the reshaping of contemporary societies.
