:: Selection process

Selection process for the Fernand Braudel-IFER incoming programme

1     Selection is based on examination of the application files.

2     The selection process is competitive.

3     Selection committees are made up of French and foreign experts.

4     Members of the pre-selection and selection committees choose applicants based on their scientific skills, the quality and feasibility of their scientific project, and the complementary fit between the project and research being carried out at the chosen host laboratory.

5     Selection:
The selection process takes into account the academic background of the applicant, as well as the appeal and quality of the research proposed, the motives given by the applicants in the research project proposal, and the letters of recommendation. This process is carried out by independent evaluators (professors and specialists in each field) and by a selection committee made up of French and foreign experts.

6     Special case:
Applicants from Germany that wish to benefit from a stay in another country must apply directly with the DAAD. The selection is comprised of two steps: a pre-selection based on examination of the application files, and an interview with a Franco-German committee in Bonn.
