The Book Fair on Latin America aims at giving writers, publishing professionals, researchers, creators, and politicians the opportunity to compare and contrast their points of view on Latin America by allowing each to present his/her original viewpoints on the question of modernity.
From the outset (in 2005) the FMSH has been involved in organizing the Book Fair on Latin America, which is geared towards authors in the fields of literature and the social and human sciences whose works have been translated into French.
The Book Fair seeks to be a year-round showcase in France of the current topics in Latin America. For this, it launched the website, which is updated daily and includes various types of publications.
Starting in 2007, the Book Fair began collaborating with certain educational boards from the Parisian region in order to integrate the works of some of the invited authors into the classroom and to encourage meetings during the week of the Book Fair : 14, 15, 16, 17 May 2009 at the "Cité Internationale des Arts" in Paris.
Given the limited readership of Latin American literature (except for a few rare authors) and the low interest in contributions by Latin American researchers, the Book Fair seeks to help improve our knowledge of all countries on the continent and to highlight the strength of the cultural and ideological ties that have united us throughout a common history. This obviously includes the Caribbean region.
