Advanced Studies Programs
The 2001 launch of the International Program for Advanced Studies (IPAS) in partnership with Columbia University was an initial step towards consolidating the FMSH’s international dimension. In addition, in order to enhance its capacities for understanding the contemporary world, the FMSH proposed creating an Institute of Advanced Studies devoted to the human and social sciences in association with the EHESS and ENS-Ulm. The Paris/Ile-de-France IAS was officially created in 2006 in the framework of the Réseau Thématique de Recherches Avancées (RTRA) (Thematic Network for Advanced Research), which links it to three other IASs located in Aix-en-Provence, Lyon, and Nantes.
