:: DEVAR Initiatives

DIFFUSION, EXPERIMENTATION, PROMOTION AND RESEARCH

As of January 1, 2004, FMSH’s DEVAR service replaced the CCRDA (Cooperative Center for Research and Diffusion in Anthropology), created by Jean-Luc Lory of the CNRS in 1981 with the goal of experimenting with new techniques for promoting and diffusing research in the social and human sciences.

DEVAR’s goal is to reach not only specialists but also a much wider audience (the general public, cultural and educational settings, businesses, private experts, etc.) by going beyond traditional methods of diffusing scientific knowledge and branching out into exhibitions, films, multimedia productions, as well as new communications technologies.

Following the success of these initiatives, FMSH incorporated FMSH-DEVAR as a service of the Fondation in 1990.  Since then, FMSH-DEVAR has focused on extensive programs for promoting research in partnership with various French ministries (Higher Learning and Research, Foreign and European Affairs, Culture and Communication, Tourism), the Center for Strategic Analysis, as well as with the European Commission, and major manufacturing companies.
