Formalismes, Formes & Données Sensibles
Formalisms, Forms and Sensitive Data
This experimental team called F2DS focuses on two objectives: firstly, put together a high-level research group on epistemology and the history of Exact Sciences (the period studied is mainly the 19th and 20th centuries); and carry out analyses and research on mathematics and their “application,” and particularly those areas that typically fall under the term “modelization.”

Research Group on Weimar Culture
Built as an association under the 1901 law and attached to the scientific secretariat of the Maison des Sciences de l’Homme, the Research Group on Weimar Culture has the following objectives: reinforce studies on the intellectual make-up of Germany in the 1920s; promote interdisciplinary and pluridisciplinary research in the fields of history, sociology, philosophy, and literature by building a national and international structure for exchanges.

Maghreb-France: Research in the Human and Social Sciences
This project reinforces cooperation in the human and social sciences between the Maghreb and France. It revolves around: 1. Joint research projects on priority and pluridisciplinary topics (promoting network building); 2. Exchanges, training and mobility, training for young researchers, mobility for professors, coordinated doctorates, internship grants, field research, summer schools.

Annales de démographie historique
Annals of Historical Demography
Founded in 1964, the Annals of Historical Demography is the only French journal devoted to this specific topic. It publishes international research on history, or rather on the histories of populations we can observe today: demographic works focusing on methods and analytical categories, approaches highly open to social history and the history of health, or more generally, works that are sensitive to approaches from the other social sciences.

French Association of Anthropologists
The French Association of Anthropologysts (AFA in French) was founded in May 1979 following the "Current Trends and Future of Anthropology" seminar in April 1977 organized by S. Dreyfus-Gamelon and G. Condominas at a time when the anthropological community was concerned with both their professionalization and their representation to the outside world. The Association’s goal is to promote the development of anthropology, foster relations between anthropologists, inform the general public about anthropology.

French Political Science Association
Along with some other associations devoted to this area, AFSP is committed to developing and promoting political science as a discipline. It actively strives to make available data, reports, information, and analyses about the discipline. AFSP structures its members’ scientific activity into eight work groups that address specific topics in political science.

Epigraphic Year
The Epigraphic Year is a Research and Service Unit (USR 710) of the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS). Its main activities include: preparing the annual Epigraphic Year; developing research programs on Greek and Latin epigraphy; training and hosting researchers from all countries; enriching a specialized library available to all researchers.

Center for Franco-Norwegian Cooperation in the Social and Human Sciences
The Center for Franco-Norwegian Cooperation in Social and Human Sciences was created in 1998. Its objective is to foster cooperation in the social and human sciences between France and Norway. For this, the Center acts as a service pole for researchers in the human and social sciences. In this respect, the Center assists researchers and doctoral candidates in order to help them make contact with research milieus and join research units from both countries.

Center for Research and Action on Trauma and Exclusion
The Center for Research and Action on Trauma and Exclusion (CEDRATE in French) was created in December 1995 upon the initiative of the Interministerial Mission on Research and Experimentation of the Ministry of Social Affairs (MIRE). Initially, it was a program of the International Childhood Center (CIE). Professor Serge Lebovici was the first president of the scientific board and held the position until the CIE was dissolved.

Centre d'études de la vie politique française
Center for the Study of French Political Life
Created in 1960, CEVIPOF is a research laboratory at Science Po (National Political Science Foundation). It has been affiliated with the CNRS since 1968 and focuses on political studies. It includes over 80 researchers (FNSP and CNRS), professors-researchers, and doctoral candidates. Through its empirical and theoretical work as well as its focus on interdisciplinarity, the Center is helping increase understanding about social and political change in contemporary democracies. It has also become a key player at the Science Po Paris’ doctoral school: it trains students through teaching (both undergraduate and graduate levels), helps orient masters and doctoral theses, and invites a dozen or so research assistants to participate in the laboratory’s activities.

Between Sciences
The “Between Sciences” Association fosters contact between the human sciences and the “hard” sciences (math, physics, chemistry, life sciences, etc.). It is open to all those interested in examining the role science and technology play in the evolution of today’s society. Its objectives include: introduce practitioners and students working in the “hard” sciences to work by researchers in the human sciences; promote this research by organizing conferences and seminars to be integrated into academic curricula or continuing education programs; and, develop publishing activities.

Espaces et sociétés
Spaces and Societies
Spaces and Societies is an interdisciplinary journal on the human and social sciences. It aims at combining multiple knowledge areas in studying the relationships between societies and spaces. When it was created in 1970, it defined itself as a “critical international journal on planning, architecture, and urbanization.” With its openness and comparative scope, the journal strives to fuel major debates in this area, whether they are specifically research oriented or focus directly on the actors involved.
EPoPS
European Political Psychology Network
EPoPS (European Political Psychology Network) is a network of doctoral candidates, post-doc researchers, and young professors that benefits from support and orientation from experienced professors and researchers in the field of political psychology. Based at the Maison des Sciences de l’Homme (MSH) in Paris, EPoPs has offices in Cambridge and Florence as well as other international academic partners. EpoPs’ objective is to develop a coherent transdisciplinary approach in political psychology by organizing monthly seminars and study days. In regards to the cognitive and individualizing approaches in social and political psychology, EPoPs stresses the importance of taking social, historical, and cultural environment into account.

Group on Today’s Colombia
Created in June 2002, GAC (Group on Today’s Colombia) is a network of researchers and students specializing in Colombia and Latin America and who are affiliated with French institutions of higher learning. Aware that an analytical framework for analyzing Colombia is lacking, GAC aims at diffusing analyses and diagnostics on current subjects in this region linked to security, terrorism, human rights, poverty, conflicts, political and economic reforms, drug trafficking.

Optant pour une analyse interdisciplinaire qui combine les sciences humaines et les sciences dures, le GEEST se propose d’étudier la production, l’utilisation, l’efficacité et l’acceptabilité des technologies de sécurité ainsi que leurs impacts socio-organisationnels, économiques, éthiques et politiques dans une approche contextuelle et prospective.

Groupe d'étude des méthodes d'analyse sociologique
Study Group on Methods in Sociological Analysis
GEMAS is a research laboratory (UMR 8598) affiliated with the Université de Paris-Sorbonne (Paris IV) and the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS). It includes CNRS researchers, sociology professors (most from Paris IV), as well as research assistants working on their doctoral thesis with GEMAS. The team’s goal is to help produce empirical sociological knowledge while trying to renew sociological theory. Its analyses are divided into three distinct levels: General sociological theory; Epistemology and methodology in the social sciences; Application of theories and methods in fields such as collective action, norms, values, cultural practices, morals, argumentation, knowledge, education, and social stratification.

Institute of Slavic Studies
The Institute of Slavic Studies is a public institution (officially recognized in the Official Journal on March 27 1920, November 22, 1925 decree). It was created in 1919 by historian Ernest Denis with the help of the French government and the Czechoslovakian and Yugoslavian governments. Poland began supporting it in 1923. The Institute of Slavic Studies is an independent institution governed by the 1901 law on associations. It was attached to the University of Paris (through an agreement from March 14, 1922), which owned the building in which the institute is housed from 1921 to 1981.

European Laboratory of Social Psychology
The European Laboratory of Social Psychology (LEPS) was created in 1976 at the Fondation Maison des Sciences de l’Homme. Upon its creation, the laboratory reinforced and developed original yet scattered trends in an emerging European social psychology in order to help this field play the international role it deserves. LEPS was the MSH’s first international network intended to consolidate an emerging discipline on the European level. Moreover, it was already functioning as a network long before this notion and model for interactive work became popular. This made LEPS a rare example of institutional innovation.

Le Centre de Ressources Numériques "Méthodologies pour la Modélisation de l'Information Spatiale Appliquée aux sciences de l'Homme" (M2ISA) est une infrastructure de données spatiales (SDI ou IDS) dédiée à la communauté des Sciences de l'Homme et de la Société. Il est intégré aux TGE ADONIS du CNRS. Il est composé d'un portail et d'un Géo-portail. Le portail M2ISA permet l'accès à des liens vers d'autres sites web des institutions ou organismes spécialisés en information géographique et/ou en analyse spatiale, et à des ressources et outils (documentation, données géographiques sous forme numérique, métadonnées, etc.). Emerging Actors Network
Formed in 2000 with the support of the Maison des Sciences de l’Homme in Paris, the “Emerging Actors Network,” (originally called “Emerging States and Actors in Africa”) brings together researchers and doctoral candidates interested in daily issues facing States, namely their relationships to emerging actors. It was consolidated by combining these initiatives: network on “Youth and Training for Elites” built in 1991 at the Maison des Sciences de l’Homme in partnership with the sociology department at Dakar’s Cheikh Anta Diop University and “Studies and Initiatives for Africa” in Dakar.

European Network on Law and Society
The Association for European research on law and society (RED&S) is governed by the July 1, 1901 law (it is also a UNESCO approved NGO). The Droit et Société journal was created in 1985 by a group of researchers and teachers from the fields of philosophy, theory, and the sociology of law and the State who thought it useful to create a place for ongoing exchanges on all types of legal questions. These exchanges are intended to bolster research and analyses from diverse disciplines produced in an international framework and which strive to build bridges between knowledge and action.

Civil Societies and Security Issues
Created in October 2002, the SC&ES (Civil Societies and Security Issues) is a program supported by Paris’ Fondation Maison des Sciences de l’Homme (MSH) and implemented in partnership with CIRPES. The program’s scientific objectives include: combine knowledge and promote young researchers’ work; enhance analyses and research on crisis prevention, management, and resolution; share analyses on security issues and enter into debates; propose new interdisciplinary methods for analyzing security issues with the social sciences; partake in European and international research networks.

Leon Battista Alberti International Society
The Leon Battista Alberti International Society has as its goal to “promote the study and diffusion of work by Leon Battista Alberti, as well as to increase knowledge about his family, his intellectual milieu, and more generally the history, literature, science, and arts of humanism and the Renaissance” (Statutes, Art. 2). It was created on June 30, 1995 after several participants from the Leon Battista Alberti International Congress in Paris expressed an interest in creating a society devoted to Leon Battista Alberti.
